Emulation of Ansel Adams
I chose to emulate my favourite photographer, Ansel Adams. Ansel Adams became famouse through photographing North America's national parks. This photo, called "Oak Tree Sunrise" was taken on a farm most likely in California. I discovered this photo and knew it was the one. After i decided on this photo, i went out to the farms in dighton and swansea. For a couple days i looked for just the right tree, and eventually found it. I found a tree that was about the same size and shape as the original and also alone in a field. The only issue with my emulation is that Ansel's was taken at sunrise, and mine was taken at sunset. Taking mine at sunset resulted in a sillouette-like effect. I think the original picture is very strong because of the shadow the tree creates, and just how alone the tree is. My photo is strong as well because of the sky in the backround and the sun in the middle of the tree. Because Ansel lived in the early 1900's, all of his photos were in black and white, so mine had to be. Below are some pictures of Ansel Adams and his camera.
